Text Box: STEWARDSHIP

We will have a stewardship meal in the Parrish Hall on Saturday November 3.  Please put this on your
calendar. There are many definitions and ideas about stewardship.  The following is the definition of
one aspect of stewardship found on The Episcopal Church’s web site:

Ordinary Stewardship is the regular practice of returning to God a portion of all
that God has given us. It involves teaching ourselves how to create a life built upon
the notion that all that we have is a gift from God. This includes teaching the holy
habits of keeping Sabbath and tithing and the concept that giving regularly of our
time, talent, and money to God’s work on this earth is as much a spiritual practice
		as prayer and worship.

As we focus more on stewardship the next few weeks please consider where you are and where you
want to be in this practice of returning a portion or what God has given you.

If you would like to work on the stewardship meal or other activities relating to our stewardship

Text Box: Reflections

Fran began his professional career fronting the group "McKendree Spring," touring with some of the most exciting artists of the 70's- the Everly Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, Elton John, Ike & Tina Turner, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, the Byrds, Jethro Tull, and Van Morrison, as well as playing at Carnegie Hall, the Fillmore East, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and with Billy Preston, the first ever rock concert at Radio City Music Hall.

Later on, Fran turned his attention to working within the church to share his passion and gifts with others. Our current diocesan songbook has no less than 20 songs from his tapes and CD’s, and his concerts are always joyous occasions. He has entertained and inspired at countless retreats all across the United States, with frequent stops here in Mississippi. When seeking musicians for the Tent Event, Fran was an obvious choice and a powerful addition to that transforming event in our diocesan life. Please make plans to join us for this event. The concert is being presented free-of-charge, but we will be accepting donations of money and canned food at the door to benefit the ministries of Stewpot and Billy Brumfield.

A few words from Fran:"My hope is to remain thankful for and receptive to the movement of God in my life, and to do this in a humble, energetic manner, celebrating our differences and similarities as creatures of God, and remembering always that we are called to actualize our faith in the world around us."
