OUR HISTORY

St. Peter’s was officially organized March 20, 1980 and officially admitted to the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi on January 31, 1981.

In the spring of 1980, the Diocese of Mississippi purchased five acres of land on Spillway Road to become the future home of St. Peter's.

After meeting at various places in the area and having an interim priest, The Rev. Arnold Bush became the full-time Vicar on November 1, 1981.  In 1982, the Mission moved into a structure put together of double-wide trailers on five acres of ground purchased by the Diocese.

With continued growth, in 1986, the Mission built its current sanctuary while retaining the trailers for social and educational uses.  The Dedication and Consecration of the new sanctuary took place on September 7, 1986.  In 1996, a spacious new building was completed to house the offices, Sunday school rooms, a new kitchen, and a large Parish Hall.  This building allowed continued growth for the parish.

St. Peter's has been blessed with wonderful clergy and laity.  We continue to worship together and to work together "Seeking to know Christ and make him known."
